Our co-workers are bringing a lot of unfounded rumors out of their sessions with SEIU organizers. Are the organizers purposefully starting the rumors? No matter. Those of us in the ENUSF group are happy to do our part passing on the truth.
RUMOR - The SEIU will not be calling for a vote at Saint Francis.
TRUTH - Absolutely true.
RUMOR - Now that the union is gone, employees who signed SEIU cards will be fired for supporting the union. (Is this rumor coming from the Union?)
TRUTH - Absolutely false. All employees had (and have) a right to support or not support the union. No one will be fired for having held or voiced either opinion. If anyone tells you that your job is in danger because you supported the union, just go to Human Resources and ask if it is true. Or find a ENUSF member and ask them. NO ONE WILL BE FIRED JUST FOR HAVING SIGNED A UNION CARD, EXPRESSED AGREEMENT WITH THE UNION OR SUPPORTED THE NEED FOR A UNION!
RUMOR - The SEIU has done such a great job in our California and Florida hospitals that Tenet wants Tennessee employees to have the same SEIU opportunity. (Wonder who started this rumor? Actually, an organizer told one of us this misinformation!)
TRUTH - Absolutely false.
RUMOR - Management is paying for the food the ENUSF offers at their events.
TRUTH - Absolutely false. All money spent in our effort to SAVE Saint Francis from the SEIU comes from our personal pockets and from other potential bargaining unit employees who do not want the SEIU in their workplace. This includes money for donuts, drinks, pizzas, et al. Some ENUSF leaders have spent hundreds of dollars in a week's time. Why? Because, unlike the Union organizers, we love our hospital, we love our jobs and most of all, we love working in and being a part of the Saint Francis family. We believe in what we are doing and are willing to make personal sacrifices to protect our workplace. On the other hand, are these outside organizers spending their money? Are they so concerned about your welfare that they are willing to spend their own money to make sure you sign a union card? We know they are willing to spend the membership dues of employees in other SEIU controlled workplaces. Just like they'll be willing to spend your money once you give it to them. So are you going to listen to strangers who are coming at you from their bank account, or are you going to listen to your friends and team mates who are coming at you from their hearts and from a real concern for your welfare and that of our patients?
RUMOR - Tenet is selling Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis.
TRUTH - Absolutely false.
RUMOR - Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis is scheduled to be shut down in 7 years.
TRUTH - Absolutely false.
